Reduce your “AGE” (advanced glycation end products)
Carbohydrate has become a dirty word – and for good reason. While some carbohydrates (carbos) are necessary for good health, some are not so good for you. Eating the wrong carbos can place a drain on your energy, inducing sleepiness when you want to be awake, and fattening you when you want to be slim.
Moreover, many of the carbos we like best, such as bread, potatoes, and cakes drive our blood sugar sky-high, a real problem as we age.
What’s worse, high blood sugar can stimulate the formation of molecules called AGEs (advanced glycation end products) which are known to be reflective of how fast we age.
AGEs and crosslinks give rise to many age-related and diabetic-related problems, including atherosclerosis, strokes, heart attacks, kidney failure, cataracts and the diabetic complications.
Some nutrients can help:
• Increase your energy levels
• Keep you wide awake throughout the day
• Decrease fat accumulation and keep you slim
• Reduce the formation of AGEs.
